Description:

The system consists of a CWB5-36 Head and tailstock type unit fitted with a set of TIG welding equipment. The headstock is powered by a variable speed motor and holds a piece of expanding tooling. This tooling provides a rounding-up and aligning facility for the two parts being butt-welded and eliminates any need for tackwelding. The expanding tool also supplies gas backing to the underside of the weld to avoid oxidation. The TIG welding equipment, which includes and arc length control and cold wire feeder, is mounted on a column which can be moved along the fixture bed to locate the weld at any point along its length.
