Material thickness up to 3/8" (10 mm).
Description:
This
weld seamer system is designed to provide the ability to weld cylinders up to 8 ft (2.5 m) diameter using an external weld. Hydraulic lifting and lowering of the entire tabletop and mandrel assembly accommodates different diameters. Cylinders over 4 ft (1.2 m) diameter can be welded by loading them over the tabletop and carrying out an internal weld.
The mandrel is hydraulically operated to tilt it down for loading and unloading of parts. Tilting down ("drooping") of the mandrel provides additional clearance between the fingers and the insert. A latch is provided to secure the mandrel to the tabletop to resist the clamping forces.
The welding equipment is mounted on a powered carriage that rides on a heavy-duty track that has been stress-relieved and machined. Hardened vee-way tracks provide smooth carriage travel. The weld head has plasma and GTA (TIG) welding facilities, each mounted on an arc length control actuator. Cold wire feed and magnetic oscillation of the trailing GTA (TIG) welding torch produces a smooth bead on the top surface of the sheet while the plasma torch provides key-holing capability for full penetration of square butt plate edges.
Weld control is effected from a remote control station. Video monitoring facilities give the operator a clear view of the weld area before, during and after the welding operation (even when welding internally). The 9500 microprocessor control, the controls for torch and wire position, and the controls for the operation of the
weld seamer are grouped on the operator control cabinet.
