Description:
Designed for flat sheet and internal welding, the seamwelder has a solid base providing a high degree of rigidity. The base structure is fitted with hydraulically operated centering devices. When operated, these devices move upwards and inwards until their front edge is on the seamwelder centerline. The sheet can then be aligned against these devices and clamped into position.
The tabletop is hydraulically elevated. This is designed to provide additional clearance for the loading and unloading of parts. A latch is provided to secure the tabletop against the clamping forces when it is in the lowered position.
The welding equipment is mounted on a powered carriage that rides on a heavy-duty track that has been stress-relieved and machined. Hardened vee-way tracks provide smooth carriage travel. The weld head has plasma and GTAW (TIG) welding facilities, each mounted on an arc length control actuator. Cold wire feed and magnetic oscillation of the trailing GTAW (TIG) welding torch produces a smooth bead on the top surface of the sheet while the plasma torch provides key-holing capability for full penetration of square butt plate edges.
The weld process is controlled from a remote control station. Video monitoring facilities give the operator a clear view of the weld area before, during and after the welding operation. The 9500 microprocessor control, the controls for torch and wire position, and the controls for the operation of the seamwelder are grouped on the control cabinet.
