| Application:
Flattening and smoothing of the weld bead on stainless steel sinks
Process:
The system is ideal for the planishing of TIG and plasma welds.
Capacity:
Up to 3/16" (4.5 mm) thick material
Planishing lengths up to 96" (2,450 mm)
Description:
The planisher illustrated has been designed specifically for the planishing of double-bowl, stainless steel sinks for domestic use. Supports have been provided to hold the sink in position for the planishing operation.
Jetline makes a range of gantry-style planishing systems for many different uses. The gantry planisher consists of a fixed lower mandrel fitted with a hardened and ground planishing insert. A mandrel latch permits the workpiece to be loaded and unloaded. Standard mandrels are of a circular section; their diameter varies according to the planishing length. Special mandrels, such as the one for planishing the sink, are available as an option.
An upper framework supports a hardened and ground track on which a carriage is driven by an Acme screw. This carriage carries to upper planishing wheel assembly. The planishing wheel is lowered by air pressure. The air pressure is adjustable and is applied to "squeeze" the material and flatten it. Travel speed of the carriage is adjustable.
The main advantage of a gantry planisher compared to a longitudinal planisher is that the part is stationary during the planishing operation. For parts of an uneven shape, this is a great benefit to the operator.
